Authentication

It’s important to us to know who’s behind the steering wheel, which is why we ask drivers and delivery-partners for real-time selfie-verification when they use their apps. This ensures identities of the drivers match the details they’re registered with, preventing account sharing.

Safe communication

Communication between drivers and passengers is crucial, but it must be secure. Grab protects phone numbers by using masked numbers, ensuring privacy is maintained. Our system also blocks vulgar language and provides a reporting option for inappropriate behavior, creating a respectful communication environment.

On-trip safety features

Audio Protect

With Audio Protect, we add an additional layer of security by recording audio during trips. These recordings can help in resolving disputes and ensure accountability, creating a safer environment for both drivers and passengers.

All recordings are encrypted and accessible only to Grab-authorised personnel, law enforcement officials, and government authorities in the event that a safety incident is reported. The audio for up to five days, after which they will be permanently deleted if there is no incident report.

Grab Safety Centre

During the trip, our Safety Centre acts as a guardian angel. Passengers can share their real-time trip details with loved ones, which includes driver details and the estimated time of arrival. The app offers an SOS button for emergencies, which will link you directly with the local first responders and police, if required. The app also provides an easy way to report all kinds of safety issues, and our specially trained safety team is on stand-by to handle such reports. These tools ensure that help is just a tap away.

Trip monitoring and real-time speeding alert

Our advanced trip monitoring system keeps an eye on the journey, collecting various data points about the trip—for instance, deviations from the expected route. It also offers real-time speeding alerts to drivers. This feature not only enhances safety but also promotes responsible driving habits.
