Shared Saver allows users to start a group order with people nearby

Picture this: It’s midday, and you’re craving a quick snack or a cup of coffee. Ordering just that feels a bit excessive, especially when you can’t meet the minimum order requirement.

With Shared Saver, you can now hop onto someone else’s order, no matter how small the value, and share the delivery fee. Think: Group Order but with strangers.

We found that many users were held back by extra fees when they dine alone or want to order something small, like a donut or coffee. So we thought about how we can allow these users to enjoy the convenience of food delivery without breaking the bank.

By selecting Shared Saver, users can view and join active orders from others in their vicinity, effectively sharing delivery fees among all participants and making it more cost-effective for everyone involved. Participants remain anonymous, ensuring that no one knows who else is part of their order.

We’re piloting Shared Saver in Singapore from April, and plan to scale it to other cities in the coming months.

How it works

There are two ways a Shared Saver order happens.

Users who are flexible with their delivery timing can choose the Shared Saver option right before checkout. Our system will then broadcast it to people nearby who are looking at ordering similar items to join the order if they are interested.

On the other hand, users browse Shared Saver orders happening and hop on the orders to enjoy the savings.

A countdown timer shows the remaining time for users to decide, along with the potential delivery savings by joining an active order.
