As the festive year-end season draws close, overseas Filipino workers from all over the world are eager to return home to be with their loved ones. Last year, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the main international gateway of the Philippines, surpassed the projected 140,000 daily arrivals during the Christmas season.
With a large number of passengers trying to leave the airport at once, finding a way home can be overwhelming. The rush in demand results in long lines, extended wait times and higher fares, adding to the stress and frustration faced by those trying to get home sooner.
To ease the stress of year-end airport chaos and help families reunite quickly, we introduced the Be Present Bus—Grab’s free airport shuttle service that brings passengers closer to home.
When: December 12-14 and December 19-21 with buses departing every 15 minutes between 1pm-11pm
Where: NAIA’s Terminal 2 (Bay 5) and Terminal 3 (Bay 4) to get to One Ayala
We’ve deployed nine buses and aim to shuttle some 1,000 passengers each day. We believe this will ease congestion at the airport while bringing passengers to One Ayala, an accessible location with more affordable transport options.
The shuttle bus service is possible thanks to the thoughtful work of Grab’s operations team in the Philippines. In partnership with New NAIA Infra Corp (NNIC) and One Ayala, the team secured convenient pickup points at NAIA to make boarding easy for passengers.
Grab team members will also be on-site with placards to guide passengers to the pickup points, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.
It’s not the first time we have deployed free shuttle buses to help passengers get home more conveniently. Our shuttle bus service was a hit during the Singapore Coldplay shows in January—we ferried some 9,000 passengers over 200 trips, sending them closer to their homes and we hope to do the same in the Philippines.
We understand the challenges our passengers face, especially during the hectic festive season. We hope that through initiatives like the Be Present Bus, more people are able to celebrate the holidays with their families without the added stress of airport travel.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.
As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.
Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
