Tengah Residents – hey there!

As Singapore’s first HDB town in 20 years comes to life surrounded by parks and natural greenery, it’s exciting to see this brand new development continue to evolve into the perfect eco-town for sustainable green living.

Sure, infrastructure is still catching up, and we understand residents can face a variety of daily challenges that come with living in such a new town – from a shortage of food & grocery options, to difficulties navigating the area while construction is ongoing. So we asked ourselves: ‘How can Grab help?’

‘Delivering Tengah’ is our answer to that question. Under this initiative, here’s what residents can expect:

1.  Improved mapping of roads and footpaths

With roads and blocks still under construction, navigating the area has been tricky for some residents, especially as landmarks and points of interest (POIs) may not be up-to-date. The good news is, our GrabMaps team has been hard at work since March, and has mapped all six precincts that residents have started moving into. This includes over 10 km of roads and footpaths, plus nearly 160 POIs such as HDB block lift lobbies and businesses. You can read more about it here.

2.  Free delivery* from over 2000 GrabFood & GrabMart merchants

From 14 June to 31 December, we will be providing free delivery (capped at $8) for your favourite food and everyday essentials (at least till malls, convenience marts and restaurants open up over time). Just leave all your legwork and heavy lifting to us!

The 2000 over merchants include:

Use promo code ‘GRAB4TENGAH’ for your GrabFood and GrabMart orders. (*Limited to 5x GrabFood redemptions, and 1x GrabMart redemption per month, per user. No minimum order required. Monthly redemptions are limited, with a maximum of 1x redemption per day. )

3.  Carpark mapping: For Pick-Ups/Drop-Offs (PUDOs) directly at your block

Our clever GrabMaps engineers made it possible for Grab rides and deliveries to come through the carpark – straight to your block. (Think of it like how some condo residents can arrange drivers to go through their underground carparks directly to their block. Nice, right?)

Before: Pick-up/Drop-Off only at the designated spot at the main entrance.

Now: Pick-up/Drop-Off can be at Level 1 of your block.

4.  EXTRA 15% OFF GrabMart Grocer for first-timers

Want more grocery options? There’s GrabMart Grocer. If you’ve not tried it before, here’s a nice saving too! Use promo codeTRYGMG’ to get your kitchen essentials delivered – from rice to meat & veggies to cooking oil. (The promo is capped at $8. Minimum order: $35).

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
