Making greener journeys, together.

The smaller our carbon footprint, the bigger our contribution to this wonderful planet we call home. From offsetting our carbon footprints with the Green Programme, to prioritising green vehicles with Eco-Friendly Rides – we’re always seeking new ways to make our world a better place for everyone.

Want to join us? Here are some ways to play your part!

All it takes is one tap to take action against climate change in your everyday life. By opting in to the Green Programme, you’ll be contributing an additional $0.10 with each ride and food delivery. This entirely voluntary contribution will go towards funding carbon credits that support the restoration and conservation of Southeast Asia’s forests, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Since the launch of our carbon offset feature in 2021, this is what we’ve achieved together:

380,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions avoided through the purchase of carbon credits

Katingan Mentaya Project

Grab purchases high quality carbon credits, such as those from the Katingan Mentaya Project in Indonesia. The project restores natural forests and conserves peatland habitats, preventing the release of greenhouse gases equivalent to 447 million tonnes of carbon dioxide over 60 years. The project also helps local communities create jobs, improve soil quality and food production. The carbon offsets generated by the Katingan Mentaya Project are independently audited according to the Verified Carbon Standard and Climate Community and Biodiversity standards. With Eco-Friendly Rides, you can now book a JustGrab ride as usual–and have our feature prioritise green vehicles when assigning you a ride, islandwide. As compared to an internal combustion engine (ICE)/petrol vehicle, carbon emissions can be reduced by an estimated 55% with an electric or hybrid vehicle. Cleaner energy, for a cleaner planet.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
