LinkAja beef up its fight against fraud with the help of GrabDefence

LinkAja is one of the leading digital payment service providers in Indonesia’s rapidly growing digital economy with more than 80 million registered users. Operating in a country with the largest mobile penetration by volume in Southeast Asia and in an industry that is prone to various fraud modus operandi, LinkAja found itself challenged with Account Takeover (ATO) and fake account registrations. Without a robust fraud protection capability, fraudsters were able to exploit loopholes and abuse the system for monetary gain.

Adi Permana, AVP of Fraud for LinkAja, shared that “main problems faced with fraud are Account takeovers and fake account registrations”.

To help LinkAja better understand the users they are onboarding and accelerate its anti-fraud capabilities, GrabDefence will deploy its device intelligence & fingerprinting technology, customised rules and provide ground intelligence support. In addition, the LinkAja team will have access to dedicated GrabDefence fraud analysts to build up their anti-fraud capability for the long run.

As Adi Permana shared, “We are excited to work with GrabDefence to protect our business. With the assurance and robust fraud detection capabilities provided by GrabDefence, we can focus on growing our users and expanding our business.”

Brian Kim of GrabDefence shares that “At GrabDefence, we aim to provide digital platforms  such as LinkAja with the tools necessary to build a trustworthy and safe platform. We believe this will allow our clients to grow more rapidly as well as unlock Southeast Asia’s economic potential.”

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
