For GrabRentals drivers…

Step 1:

In your Grab Driver App, tap on Rental.

Step 2:

Tap on List your car.

If you have already found a relief driver, Submit their details instead.

Step 3:

Fill up your Listing details, and tap Submit.

Be as detailed as you can in your Relief arrangement, e.g. “Looking to share on Mon-Wed 1-5pm only, CDW & VDP all included”, “Going on holiday! Looking for relief from 2-7 July”.

Step 4:

When there are interested drivers, you will be able to see their details. Tap on Contact details to reveal their phone number, where you can contact them to discuss relief arrangements!

Not interested in sharing? Tap on Decline to reject the relief driver

Found a relief driver? Tap on Submit their details to proceed.

Step 5:

Found a relief driver?
You will need to submit the following documents on their behalf, and the Grab team will do a safety and accident screening within 3 working days before adding the relief driver into your Rental Contract.

Step 6:

You will receive a notification once your relief driver(s) have been added successfully, and they will show up as Active relief drivers

For Interested relief drivers…

Step 1:

In your Grab Driver App, tap on Rental.

Step 2:

Tap on Be a relief driver.

Step 3:

Indicate your preferred location, and try our NEW functionality to sort and filter listings so that you can better browse from a list of GrabRentals driver-partners.

Step 4:

Saw one that you are keen in? Tap on Submit interest and your details will be shared to the main-hirers, where they will reach out to you directly to discuss relief arrangements

Upon agreement of the relief arrangements, you will have to provide your Identity Card, Driving License and Vocational License to the main-hirer for them to submit the application to add you as a relief driver.

Step 5:

Once you have been successfully added as a relief driver, you will receive a copy of your main-hirer’s rental contract in your Grab-registered email.

You may then proceed to change your vehicle on the Grab Driver app directly, where you will need to submit the rental contract in your Vehicle Change form

Discuss about the practical aspect of car sharing – a preferred mode of communication, where to pick up and drop off the car, how to work out fuel costs and parking fees, and so on.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens if the relief driver(s) gets into an accident?

A: If the main-hirer has purchased the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) add-on for the rental contract, the corresponding CDW coverage will apply for the relief drivers too. Click here to find out more.


2. How will the rental be deducted?

Daily rental deduction will still be made from the main-hirer’s Grab Driver wallet. Main-hirers will have to settle on the rental payment arrangement directly from the relief drivers.

  1. Use of the Relief Driver Matching feature (“Relief Driver Matching”) is subject to these terms, Grab’s Terms of Service and any applicable Terms and Policies.

  2. You understand and agree that Relief Driver Matching is a platform to list your vehicle and search for a relief driver. Grab Rentals Pte Ltd (“Grab”) does not guarantee that you will find or be successfully matched with a relief driver.

  3. Grab does not guarantee the accuracy of listings or whether main drivers are eligible to add a relief driver.

  4. Grab shall not be involved in any discussions, negotiations or disputes between main drivers and relief drivers. You understand and agree that Grab is not responsible for any disputes arising between main drivers and relief drivers, including any disputes relating to apportioning of rental and/or accident costs.

Terms & Conditions for Referral Program

  • To be eligible for the Car Sharing Referral Program, Hirer-Partners (“Referrer”) will need to fulfill either of the following conditions at the time of referral:

    • Made a reservation to rent a car from GrabRentals Pte Ltd (“GrabRentals”) and paid the rental deposit in full; or

    • Have an active GrabRentals rental agreement; or 

    • Not a GrabRentals driver-partner but with an active Grab driver-partner account.

  • The referral option for eligible Referrers is as follows:

    • Refer a pair of new hirer-partners (“Referees”) to co-rent a car from GrabRentals together (excluding the Referrer).

  • Each Referrer can refer up to 10 new GrabRentals Car Sharing pairs (“Referees”) per month

    • The Referees must be new to GrabRentals and have not rented from GrabRentals before. The Referees must have an existing Grab Driver-Partner account 

    • The Referees must sign a Car Sharing contract agreement with GrabRentals for a minimum of 2 weeks (“Open contract”).

    • To get the referral rewards, the Referee must provide the Referrer’s full name and his/her Grab registered phone number via <grb.to/grcarsharingreferral>. By providing the Referrer’s name and registered phone number, the Referee(s) confirm that the Referrer has given consent to the Referee(s) for his/her personal data to be provided to GrabRentals to be collected, used, processed or disclosed by GrabRentals for the purposes of this Referral Program.

    • Referrers will not need to be present at Grab@Tampines during the appointment.

  • The following referral rewards shall apply for referrals that take place from 06 – 17 May 2024*:

  • (A) Referral Reward for Referrer based on both Referee’s contract length

    • Open contract: $80 Grab Driver Credits for the Referrer.

  • (B) Referral Reward for Referees based on both Referee’s contract length

    • Open contract: $25 Grab Driver Credits for each Referee.

*The referral date shall be taken as the date when the Referee makes a reservation to rent a car from GrabRentals.

  • Payout:

  • For Referrers and Referees: The referral rewards shall be credited to the Referrer and Referees’ respective driver wallets by the end of the second week after the Referees’ car collection date.

  • Failure to complete the contract rental period by the Referee(s) may result in the clawback of driver credits that were issued to both the Referees and Referrers.

  • GrabRentals may, at its sole and absolute discretion, substitute the rewards for another reward of similar value.

  • GrabRental’s decisions in any matter in relation to the Referral Program shall be final and conclusive. GrabRentals shall not be liable for any claims by you or third-parties for claims or damages or losses of any nature, including but not limited to, loss of profits, expectation loss, punitive, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages or for other damages and any related claims of any nature, including direct, indirect, third-part, consequential or other damages resulting from or in connection with this Referral Program without any further notification to the Referrer and Referee.

  • Unless otherwise provided, all rewards are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash/credit in kind.

By participating in the Referral Program, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and failure to comply may result in disqualification from the Referral Program. 

GrabRentals reserves the sole and absolute right to withdraw, amend and/or alter any part of these terms and conditions or the referral rewards at any time without any prior notice to you and you agree to be bound by those changes.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
