GrabRentals main-hirers who are sharing their car via the Relief matching feature can now upgrade or opt in to Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), and/or opt in to Vehicle Damage Protection (VDP) mid-contract for an extra peace of mind.

FOR MAIN-HIRERS

Listing your car

Step 1:

Tap on Relief matching on your Grab Driver app.

Step 2:

Tap on List your car.

Step 3:

Fill up your Listing details, and tap on List your car.

Be as detailed as you can in your Relief arrangement, e.g. “Looking to share on Mon-Wed 1-5pm only, CDW & VDP all included”.

Step 4:

Yay! You’ve listed your car. 
Hang tight and wait for relief drivers to send their interest.

What's next?

Step 5:

You will receive an in-app notification once there are interested relief drivers! Tap on Go to relief matching to see their details.

Step 6:

Tap on the Message icon to chat with your interested relief drivers before deciding to Accept or Decline their request.

Step 7:

After accepting their request, Grab will request documents from the relief driver for our mandatory screening. 

Once approved, you may proceed to share your vehicle!

FOR RELIEF DRIVERS

Sending your interest

Step 1:

Tap on Relief matching on your Grab Driver app.

Step 2:

Indicate your preferred location to view listings from main-hirers. 

Saw one that you are keen in? Tap on Submit interest.

Step 3:

Tap on the Message icon to chat with your intended main-hirer to find out more about their preferred arrangements.

What's next?

Step 4:

You will receive an in-app notification once a main-hirer has accepted your request! Tap on Submit documents to proceed.

Step 2:

It is mandatory for you to submit your details for Grab’s safety screening. Tap on Submit to proceed.

Step 3:

You will receive an in-app notification once your documents have been reviewed. 

Once approved, you may proceed to share the vehicle.

Set ground rules

Discuss about the practical aspect of car sharing – a preferred mode of communication, where to pick up and drop off the car, how to work out fuel costs and parking fees, and so on.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens if the relief driver(s) gets into an accident?

A: For GrabRentals main-hirers – If you have purchased the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) add-on for the rental contract, the corresponding CDW coverage will apply for the relief drivers too. Click here to find out more.


2. How will the rental be deducted?

Daily rental deduction will still be made from the main-hirer’s Grab Driver wallet. Main-hirers will have to settle on the rental payment arrangement directly from the relief drivers.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Use of the Relief Driver Matching feature (“Relief Driver Matching”) is subject to these terms, Grab’s Terms of Service and any applicable Terms and Policies.

  2. You understand and agree that Relief Driver Matching is a platform to list your vehicle and search for a relief driver. Grab Rentals Pte Ltd (“Grab”) does not guarantee that you will find or be successfully matched with a relief driver.

  3. Grab does not guarantee the accuracy of listings or whether main drivers are eligible to add a relief driver.

  4. Grab shall not be involved in any discussions, negotiations or disputes between main drivers and relief drivers. You understand and agree that Grab is not responsible for any disputes arising between main drivers and relief drivers, including any disputes relating to apportioning of rental and/or accident costs.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Only lessors who have been matched through the Relief matching programme are eligible to opt in for the Vehicle Damage Protection Scheme (VDP) midway through their vehicle rental agreement term at a fee of $5/day (incl. GST)


  2. Lessor will need to bear the cost of all existing vehicle damage prior to commencement of their VDP opt-in, in accordance with the terms of the rental agreement.


  3. Upon recontracting, the rate payable by Lessor for VDP will revert to the regular VDP rate, depending on the contract length.


  4. The VDP rate remains at $5/day till end of Lessor’s existing rental agreement term, and Lessor is not allowed to opt-out even if Lessor’s sharing arrangement ends.

  5. In addition to the foregoing, the terms and conditions of the VDP Scheme at https://www.grab.com/sg/driver/transport/rentals/gr-vehicle-damage-protection-scheme/ (“VDP Online Terms”) shall apply. In the event of any inconsistency between this form and the VDP Online Terms, this form shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
