Grab launches PayLater in Thailand to capture the “Buy Now, Pay Later” market to serve mobility and delivery users
.
Grab, a leading superapp in Southeast Asia, expands digital financial services in Thailand with the launch of “PayLater by Grab”. Introducing the post-paid service, users can opt to pay for all of Grab services next month in one single bill, providing them with enhanced flexibility, seamless experience and extra benefits across mobility as well as food, parcel, and on-demand everyday goods deliveries. The superapp will continue to develop new services and explore business opportunities to comprehensively serve consumers.
Worachat Luxkanalode, Country Head of Grab Thailand, said, “The increased popularity for digital commerce throughout the past few years have given rise to new digital financial services that can better serve customers’ needs. According to the e-Conomy SEA 2022 report, the total transaction volume of digital payment in Thailand is expected to reach USD 113 billion in 2022 and grow by 12% within 2025. One of the fastest growing services is the Buy Now, Pay Later service, which allows customers to manage their expenses more conveniently.”
“Grab Thailand has launched our payment service for almost three years, with an aim to offer our users a seamless payment experience on the Grab platform. Today, almost two third of Grab users choose the cashless payment methods, including GrabPay Wallet and debit/credit cards. To provide a better experience to our users, we have introduced ‘PayLater by Grab’, starting with the launch of the post-paid service to enable Grab users to pay for all services in one single bill each month.”
The post-paid service under PayLater by Grab comes with three key benefits, including:
- Flexible: Promising freedom and flexibility in financial management, the service combines all transactions in one single bill, which users can pay for in the next month. Users can also choose to make an early payment or allow the system to auto-deduct payment on the due date. The service comes with features for expense management, such as transaction summary, available spending limit, and payment due dates, all of which can be tracked on the application.
- Seamless: Users can make payment via PayLater by Grab by choosing the payment method before confirming an order across mobility, food, parcel and on-demand everyday goods delivery services. Eligible users will be able to activate the PayLater by Grab service on the application. The spending limit will be personalised according to previous transactions on the Grab platform.
- Extra Benefits: Users can earn up to 2 GrabRewards points with every THB 16 spent on Grab. First-time users of PayLater by Grab can receive a maximum of THB 100 discount* by applying the code NEWPAYLATER until 31 December 2022.
“The launch of PayLater by Grab is our efforts to respond to consumer behaviours by providing financial liquidity to Grab users. We will continue to expand our service offerings to serve various digital payment needs of both users and partners in the future,” concluded Worachat.
