We strive for the best only for your safety! Grab is the first ride-hailing platform to proactively work with various industries to make sure our drivers and passengers are safe. One of our little-known initiatives is defensive riding training for all of our GrabBike drivers.

Grab prioritizes safety as our number one concern, and we invest to up-skill our drivers to become the safest drivers around. This includes collaborating and partnering with the top global safety training providers to establish essential and compulsory safety riding training for every GrabBike driver. We aim to promote defensive riding skills among all our bikers to ensure that every passenger knows they can count on us for the safest rides, every time.

Our defensive riding courses are compulsory for all GrabBike riders. These courses up-skill them with both theoretical and practical knowledge to enhance their riding skills, safety awareness, knowledge of traffic laws, dealing with emergencies on the road, conducting preventive maintenance on their vehicle, and making sure to be outfitted with personal protective equipment and the best safety advice to carry passengers and parcels on their motorcycle ride.

GrabBike is in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam – with our full fleet of GrabBike riders being trained in defensive riding, as part of Grab’s commitment to set safety standards higher than industry requirements.

This has shown results since implementation. According to the World Health Organization [1], 36 per cent of fatalities due to traffic accidents in Indonesia involved 2- or 3-wheeled vehicles. In Indonesia, despite operating one of the biggest 2-wheeled transportation network in Southeast Asia, our GrabBike traffic accident rates are considerably much lower than the national records. These numbers are set to be driven even lower with new Grab safety initiatives in the pipeline and customized customer service training modules that covers the Grab safety code of conduct.
