Grab Thailand announces today three immediate measures, with a total budget of over THB 40 million, to support local small and medium businesses on the Grab platform, Grab driver- and delivery-partners, and healthcare professionals. Developed to last from May to June 2021, the measures aim to alleviate the negative impacts of the third wave of COVID-19 and help Thais to pull through this crisis together.
“We stand with Thailand in this fight against COVID-19. We have been monitoring the situation closely and adjusting our operations across all services including transport, which has been heavily impacted as more people stay at home,” said Alejandro Osorio, Country Head of Grab Thailand. “Our focus is to ensure that we enable and support our partners to continue meeting consumers’ evolving needs during this challenging period. The three measures are developed to support our merchant-partners, particularly the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, driver- and delivery-partners, and healthcare professionals who have been tirelessly and selflessly working around the clock to ensure our health and safety.”
The three measures include:
- “Support Local Restaurants” campaign to enhance visibility and drive demand for local F&B outlets: Grab will promote small local F&B outlets to increase their visibility online through various approaches such as banner ads, the “Support Local Restaurant” icon on the Grab app, as well as Grab’s social media channels. In addition, to help drive demand for these merchant-partners, Grab will give away a total of two million redemptions. Consumers can add “SUPPORT” promo code to get THB15 GrabFood delivery discounts for orders with a minimum order of THB150 from today to the end of June 2021. Besides, the company will offer 0% commission to merchant-partners for all ‘Self Pick-up’ orders from May 12th to August 1st, 2021. More details will be updated on http://www.grabmerchantth.com/spu, starting May 12th onwards.
- Continuing to broaden earning opportunities and support for driver- and delivery-partners: Driver-partners who normally provide transportation services with cars, either GrabCar or GrabTaxi, can choose to also deliver food and packages on the Grab platform. This is to help those whose earnings have been greatly impacted due to decreased number of passengers and tourists to access alternative sources of income. Grab also supports both driver-, and delivery-partners with the COVID-19 test fees of THB 500, together with the income compensation worth up to THB 9,500 in case of COVID-19 infection.
- Extending appreciation and support to healthcare professionals: From May 12th to June 30th, 2021, Grab is offering discounted food delivery fees to healthcare professionals, nurses and healthcare workers from five public hospitals including Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thammasat University Hospital, The Thai Red Cross Society. They can enjoy THB 20 off of GrabFood delivery fee, with a minimum order of THB 150 on selected merchants, with a total of 300,000 redemption.
“These immediate measures are part of our GrabCares #pullingthroughittogether programme, which was launched since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Apart from the new measures, we also prioritise safety and hygiene standards on our platform. Our driver- and delivery-partners, as well as merchant-partners are strongly encouraged to comply with the guidelines provided by the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. We have also rolled out contactless food delivery measures and in-app health and hygiene declaration features, as well as promote the use of e-wallet payments to reduce the risks from handling cash. Grab is committed to support our communities during this difficult period, and believe that together, we can overcome this pandemic,” added Alejandro.
