#KitaFeedKita – Grab rallies Malaysians to support those in need
- Donate in cash or GrabRewards points to provide meals and provisions.
- Grab will match GrabRewards points donation to provide more support to community in need.
- Grab providing discounts to organisations via delivery with GrabExpress.
Petaling Jaya, 3 August 2021 – As Malaysia continues to struggle with the impact of the pandemic, we are grateful for the men, women and organisations who have taken it upon themselves to support and rally aid for the vulnerable those in need.
Continuing the brand’s efforts to support the marginalised and underprivileged communities, Grab Malaysia is now rallying its users nationwide to make a difference to those among us who are in need by supporting organisations that are assisting them.
The #KitaFeedKita campaign will give Grab users the opportunity to contribute in cash or GrabRewards points to MakanKongsi 2.0 to aid their efforts in supporting communities who are affected by the impact of the pandemic. Grab in turn will be matching the GrabRewards points donated and is also offering other NGOs and organisations discounts to deliver food and essentials to those in need via GrabExpress.
“#KitaFeedKita campaign is inspired by those who are selflessly addressing the dire needs of our community. With the loss of jobs, lives and income, it is even more important today for us to help lift each other up. As a homegrown tech enabler, we are committed to using our platform to provide seamless access to what matters most to Malaysians – income, food and daily necessities. With our technology and wide consumer base, we recognise our unique position as a facilitator for support. We are humbled to collaborate with MakanKongsi 2.0 as the distribution partner for our #KitaFeedKita initiative. We welcome our Grab users to contribute so that they can continue the good work they are doing,” shared Hassan Alsagoff, Country Marketing Head of Grab Malaysia.
MakanKongsi2.0 is co-organised by THE GOOD KITCHEN and ENGAGE to ensure that the most vulnerable communities get the basic essentials to feed their families during MCO because No One Should Go Hungry. Since the full MCO began, they have been actively working with over 130 NGOs/NGIs across Malaysia to provide food aid and basic essentials feeding over 60,000 families and individuals in need to date. MakanKongsi2.0 commits to channel 100% of contributions to benefit communities in need.
How users can help various communities through #KitaFeedKita:
- Grab will match user’s GrabRewards Points donation
Users have the option to donate their GrabRewards Points to MakanKongsi 2.0 which will help fund their efforts. Grab will then match the points donated and channel to the cause respectively. - Grab providing discounts to organisations via delivery with GrabExpress
Grab is offering discounts for any NGOs and corporations who are operating their own efforts to provide provisions to those who are in need. They can reach out to Grab via (HERE) so they can receive a promo code for large deliveries via GrabExpress Instant (car or MPV) service. - Donate meals and everyday staples via GrabPay wallet
Users can donate cash via their GrabPay wallet which will be channelled directly to MakanKongsi 2.0 to help fund their efforts to provide meals and boxes of daily staples.
Other NGOs on the GrabRewards catalogue that users can support are:
- PERTIWI Soup Kitchen was created to provide healthy meals to those who are in need. This community outreach effort is managed by Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI), one of Malaysia’s longest running NGOs and has been operating at various locations around Kuala Lumpur.
- The Lost Food Project (TLFP) is a Malaysian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to a sustainable future by preventing ‘lost’ food from going to landfills, but rather channel it to those who need it most.
Prior to this, Grab has been supporting various communities and causes such as the Fugee School, Malaysian Federation of Deaf, National Kidney Foundation and WWF by encouraging users to donate their GrabRewards Points to them. In 2020, together with Grab users and donations by Grab employees, Grab supported 20 NGOs that were listed in the GrabRewards catalogue. The effort amassed 13 million GrabRewards points from users, with Grab matching some of these contributions.
