#GrabBersamaMalaysia: Celebrating Malaysia’s Diversity and Inclusion Across the Nation

Embracing this year’s theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka”, Grab has brought together nearly 500 Malaysians, including the company’s longest-serving driver- and delivery-partners as well as employees from Grab Malaysia and GXBank, to participate in the National Day parades across the country.

In a heartfelt display of unity, Grab Malaysia took to the streets in National Day parades across the country, highlighting the diversity of Malaysians who are helping to propel the nation forward. Showcasing the spirit of #GrabBersamaMalaysia, Grab’s  contingents all over Malaysia – made up of individuals from all walks of life – celebrated the power of diversity and inclusion central to Grab’s mission and commitment.

Embracing this year’s theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka”, Grab has brought together nearly 500 Malaysians, including the company’s longest-serving driver- and delivery-partners as well as employees from Grab Malaysia and GXBank, to participate in the National Day parade in Putrajaya and five state parades in Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuantan, Melaka and Penang.

Leading the National Day contingent in Putrajaya was Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations and Mobility who noted, “As a homegrown brand, we believe that it’s vital to celebrate our nation’s rich diversity and heritage, and to acknowledge the tireless dedication of Malaysians who have helped shaped the nation. With this in mind, we wanted to use this opportunity to honour our driver and delivery-partners on the frontlines. Their unwavering commitment and service are the heartbeat of Grab. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we are united by a shared vision – to play a part in building a better tomorrow for Malaysia. With our partners by our side, we feel even more empowered and driven to achieve this goal.”

Across the region, over 3,100 Persons WIth Disabilities (PWDs) are actively earning an income on the Grab platform. Siti Fatimah, one of Grab Malaysia’s longest-serving persons with disability (PWD) driver-partner, shared her experience of joining Grab’s parade contingent in Putrajaya, “Participating in this year’s National Day parade fills me with immense joy. As a driver-partner with a physical disability, this opportunity carries great significance for me. I’m not just representing Grab, but the entire PWD community on a national stage – showing that even with our disabilities, we too can contribute to the nation’s development. I’m proud to be a testament to the Malaysian spirit, showing that no obstacle is too big for us to overcome.”

“Taking part in the National Day parade was truly special for me,” shared Nurasma binti Omar, a delivery-partner who was also present at the Putrajaya parade. “It’s a day to remind us of our shared history, our struggles, and the incredible progress we’ve made to emerge stronger as a nation. As we made our way through the streets, I couldn’t help but feel connected to all the other Malaysians celebrating this day. It reminded me why I’m proud to do what I do every day –  serving communities alongside other Grab partners throughout Malaysia.”

Standing in solidarity with Grab Malaysia and its partners were employees from GXBank, Malaysia’s first digital bank. Both brands share a common vision of shaping a future where technology enables and empowers a more inclusive nation for all Malaysians. As they marched side by side in the National Day parade, they presented a united front committed to driving Malaysia forward. Participants and spectators who were at Putrajaya were also given free GrabFood vouchers to celebrate.
