Grab applauds SPAD’s announcement yesterday to regulate the ride hailing services and its plan to transform the local taxi industry under its Taxi Industry Transformation Programme (TITP) initiatives.
The decision and the 11 points revealed are a positive move and testament of our Government’s commitment not only to support innovative solutions to resolve the transportation woes in Malaysia, but to also ensure that the welfare and livelihood of our taxi drivers are seriously taken into consideration.
“We believe the new policies introduced recognises Grab’s vital role in elevating the level of services of our local public transportation industry. However, the only way for all parties to ensure that these objectives are met is through continuous consumers’ gratification as the growth and transformation of the local public transportation industry will be very much driven by market demands. Satisfied consumers will ensure that the industry will continue to grow in leaps and bounds. We at Grab are here to ensure that not only will these objectives be met, but to continuously provide assurance to consumers and passengers alike, that a safer, comfortable, convenient and economical transportation option will always be easily accessible through their mobile devices,” states Jaygan Fu, Grab Malaysia’s Country Head.
“Grab began operating four years ago as a taxi-hailing service provider as we believed we could contribute to enhance the taxi industry. Despite how Grab has grown to be the leading e-hailing app in Southeast Asia with a presence in 30 cities across six countries and offering a myriad options of transportation services, our taxi drivers are very much still an integral part and a backbone to our business,” adds Fu.
“We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank both our taxi and GrabCar drivers, passengers and business partners for their unwavering support and for having faith in us throughout this journey. We will endeavour to work closely with SPAD to understand these policies and review our operations to best accommodate them with minimal impact to both drivers and passengers and assist in whatever way possible throughout this transitional period,” says Fu.
