Making Zakat Contribution Easier

As part of our mission to be the everyday app, we’ve partnered with various zakat agencies to introduce Zakat Deduction Programme!

With this programme, Muslim driver-partners & delivery-partners can easily contribute zakat on your earnings with Grab. Just opt in to the programme and deduction will begin the following month.

Do I need to contribute zakat?

Zakat contribution is mandatory if your yearly income amount is more than the Nisab amount. If it’s less, it’s optional to contribute.

Zakat income Nisab rate will change monthly or yearly depending on each state. For more info, refer below:

Great! How do I sign up?

1. Opt in by filling in the required details in the form by clicking the button below.

2. You will be notified if your opt-in is successful by the 5th of the following month.

3. We will deduct 2.5% of your net earnings from cash wallet in the following month. For Penang & Kedah, the minimum contribution is RM10 or 2.5% (whichever higher).

Example: If you sign up in November 2019, your net earnings in December 2019 will be eligible for zakat contribution. It will then be deducted in January 2020.

What do I need to do if I have not registered for zakat?

Don’t worry, when you opt to the Zakat Deduction Programme, you will automatically be registered for zakat.

If you want to contribute zakat on your earnings from other sources (e.g. gold, silver, business income), please visit your nearest state zakat agency office.

My account is registered in Kuantan (Pahang) but I drive in Kuala Lumpur. Where will my contributions be directed to?

You’re encouraged to make zakat contributions to the zakat agency in the city where you work. However, if your registered Grab city is Pahang, your zakat contribution will be directed to Pusat Kutipan Zakat Pahang (PKZP).

If you wish to change it to Pusat Pungutan Zakat MAIWP (PPZ), you need to fill up this form.

I am currently based outside of the cities listed but I would like to contribute for zakat. What should I do?

You can visit your nearest zakat agency office to contribute. Don’t worry, we’re currently looking into extending this programme to other cities too. Stay tuned!

What should I do if I’ve already been contributing to a participating agency?

If your zakat contributions have been made under your new IC number, your contributions on Grab earnings will be recorded in the same account.

If your zakat contributions have been made under another ID (eg: old IC number, Police ID), provide us with the details in the opt-in form to ensure the zakat contributions are accumulated into the same account.

Can I opt out from this programme?

Yes, you can opt out anytime by filling the form here but please note that the current month’s contribution will still be carried out.

Example: If you opt out on 16 March 2020, we will still deduct 2.5% of your March’s net earnings in April 2020. Deduction for zakat contributions will only stop in May 2020.

How do I find out my zakat contribution amount so far?

Depending on the agency, you can find out the amount by registering an account or login to an existing one, on the following website:

If you would like to contribute more than 2.5% of your monthly earnings, you can also do it via the relevant links provided above.

How do I calculate my net earnings?

Net earnings are equivalent to total fares collected after commission deduction (if applicable).

How do I calculate the nisab amount?

The zakat nisab on income is based on the weight of gold. For more info, watch this video.

When is the deadline to opt in to the programme?

Driver-partners/ delivery-partners need to opt in before the end of any month to be eligible to contribute zakat in the following month.

The deduction from your earnings will start in the following month.

Example: If you opt in by 28 November 2019, we will deduct your December 2019 earnings in January 2020.

Is there an age limit for this programme?

There is no age limit to make a contribution. However, this programme is ONLY open to Muslim Grab driver-partners/delivery-partners  who are interested to contribute zakat on their earnings.

Where does this contribution go?

The contribution will be transferred to the zakat agency you’ve chosen on a monthly basis.

What happens if I’m terminated/banned or if I don’t have enough balance in my wallet after opting in?

If this happens, we will stop deducting from your wallet from the following month.

You’ll also be automatically opted out when this happens.

1. Campaign period is from 15 January 2022 (12:00am) – 28 February 2022 (11.59pm).
2. GrabPay users are eligible for a “RM8 rebate” in your “My Rewards” when you spend a minimum of RM88 on a single receipt via GrabPay Wallet.
3. The offer of “RM8 rebate” is limited to a total of 62,500 redemptions throughout the campaign period.
4. Offer is valid for TWO (2) in-store redemptions with a cap of ONE(1) redemption per user per day throughout the campaign. Shared across AEON Co, AEON BiG, AEON MaxValu Prime, and AEON Wellness throughout the campaign period. 
5. The “RM8 rebate” will be awarded instantly with a minimum transaction of RM88 with GrabPay at all outlets of AEON Co, AEON BiG, AEON MaxValu Prime, AEON Wellness; The rebate can be found under “My Rewards”. Rebate must be redeemed by clicking “use now” under “My Rewards” 30 days from the date of issuance.
6. The campaign will cease once all redemptions have been fully awarded or at the expiration of the campaign period, whichever is earlier.
7. Offer is based on a first come first served and while stocks last basis only.
8. Grab and AEON Group shall not be under any obligation to inform users, on any communication channels once the offer has been fully redeemed.
9. Offer is only available for AEON Co, AEON BiG, AEON MaxValu Prime, and AEON Wellness physical stores purchases at cashier counter only via GrabPay Wallet; offer is not applicable for online or GrabMart purchases.
10. Offer is not exchangeable for cash or replacements.
11. Offer is not valid with any other voucher, discount or promotion.
12. Grab and AEON Group reserve the right to alter, extend or terminate the promotion, or amend the terms and conditions at its sole discretion at any time without prior notice. In case of any disputes directly or indirectly arising from the promotion, the decision of Grab and AEON Group shall be final.
13. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of Malaysia and any dispute arising out of or in connection with promotion shall be referred to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts of Malaysia.
14. This rebate is non-transferable to any party.
