We’re back with more tips for you! Following our newsletter about health tips before, we’ve once again teamed up with Frederick Khoo, a certified physiotherapist from Precise Rehab to bring you stretching techniques so that you’re always in the best of health when you drive.
Take frequent breaks
This is especially important for those who spend long hours behind the wheel. If you are going to drive for the entire day, make sure you plan a minimum of 3 breaks and space them out throughout the day. Get down from the car to stretch with these exercises:
Body Stretch
- Go to the back of your car and face the boot
- Bring your left leg up and bend your leg towards you, placing your knee on the boot
- Stretch your body forward and hold the position for 20 seconds
- Push your body up and down for 10 reps
- Repeat Steps (2) to (4) for the other side
Hamstring Exercises
- Extend your right leg out and keep it straight with the heel pressed against the floor
- Bend forward and touch your toes with both hands and hold the position for 20 seconds
- Repeat Steps (1) to (2) for the other side
Leg Exercises
- Go to the back of your car
- With your back facing the boot, bend your right leg upwards so that your foot rests on the boot
- Stand up straight, tighten your abs and make sure you feel the stretch on your right upper thigh. Hold the position for 20 seconds.
- When you’re done, extend both arms upwards, squeeze your abs and arch your back before bringing your arms back down. Repeat this movement for 10 reps.
- Repeat Steps (2) to (4) for the other side
Drink up
Make sure you have a bottle of good old H2O with you in the car at all times, the weather during around this time of the year can get pretty hot. Stay hydrated throughout the day and don’t deprive yourself of water for the sake of avoiding the restroom. Frequent trips to the toilet means taking a break from driving – which means giving yourself another opportunity to get your muscles working.
