There are certain challenges that Grab drivers and delivery-partners go through that many don’t usually have to think about. Working through bad weather, not having immediate coworkers, and constantly being on the move can be taxing on the mind if not given proper consideration.
We want to ensure that you are practicing healthy habits in taking care of your mental wellbeing, so that you can be the best version of yourself! Below are a few tips for when you aren’t on the road to always keep your mind healthy.

Being physically active has been scientifically linked to promoting better mental health. A study done by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that running for 15 minutes a day or walking for an hour reduces the risk of major depression by 26%. Exercising releases chemicals in your brain that makes you feel happy, aids concentration and helps you sleep better at night.

Sitting alone with your thoughts can be intimidating to those who are new to meditation. When properly practiced, millions of people around the world find it a great tool to improve patience, increase self-awareness, and even lengthen attention span. Mindful meditation relaxes both the body and mind, and keeps you feeling calmer throughout the day.

In a survey conducted by the Australian Psychological Society, 4 out of 5 people felt that spending time on a hobby was an effective way to manage stress. Playing a musical instrument, learning to draw or writing are great ways to de-stress at the end of your day. Having motivation to improve your skills also promotes better confidence and self-esteem in an individual.

Taking part in a social group is a great way to combat feelings of loneliness or isolation. Whether they are online or in-person, open communication with other like-minded individuals could greatly benefit your mental wellbeing. Having a social group to call your own can deter feelings of stress and anxiety.
Note: Grab drivers and delivery-partners can connect with their fellow peers through our Rakan Grab Facebook group, where you can chat with each other and build lasting friendships. Just remember - be civil!

Communication is very important when discussing mental health. Just having family or friends that you can reach out to can greatly improve your quality of life. Even if it may be difficult to make time to see certain people, you can schedule a phone call or a video call just to catch up with each other and share what's been on your mind.
Learning to express our emotions in a healthy way is crucial to living positively. Stay healthy and be safe on the roads!
